Outcomes
Here are the keys to move from being stuck in limbo to making a whole new start as an entrepreneur.
What you need is guidance through a structured process to determine your next steps. There are two aspects to preparing for self-employment: looking inward and looking outward.
In order to create your own story, Focus After Fifty helps you move through 5 phases.
1. Face what’s been blocking you from moving forward. A lot of people have expectations of who you “should” be. And you probably have a lot of your own “shoulds” too. By uncovering your hidden “shoulds” and fears, you can begin to decide whether self-employment could work for you today.
2. Trust your instincts. It’s time to begin looking at what you choose to do with your life, after spending so much time doing what you should! By getting more in touch with your aspirations, with what’s truly important to you, you’ll begin making more conscious choices.
3. Claim your passion. When you look at the world of jobs and compare how it works to your values, there’s often a disconnect. Follow the calling that’s been inspiring you to do business differently and find out how that could shape your new venture.
4. Clarify how your dream might happen by considering fresh options. Envision how you might use your strengths to start your own venture. Then narrow the ideas down to the few that have real promise for serving the right clients.
5. Refine your plan by “trying on” new activities. In the process, you’ll learn more about yourself and rethink your original ideas. New possibilities you’d never considered might emerge as you begin taking action.
By making a commitment to move through these phases, you’ll discover your plan for becoming your own boss.
